To carry out duties in support of the Partner in our North Berwick office. A flexible attitude is essential as you may also be required to help out in other departments from time to time.  In return, you will get the opportunity to work with a great, hard-working team where you will expand your skills and knowledge within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct work on case files on a day to day basis and answer clients’ or other queries in full, under supervision of the Partner
  • Undertake administrative duties including (but not exclusively) attending to and advising clients under supervision, drafting letters, preparing conveyancing drafts, ordering reports, preparing registration forms, drafting LBTT returns and all other documents/tasks relating to the conveyancing transaction
  • Checking all documentation thoroughly prior to implementing;
  • Keeping up to date with changes in the law;
  • Reading relevant literature and attending courses as part of continuing professional development (CPD);
  • Maintaining high standards of professional conduct while generating adequate practice income, ensuring that the fees earned sufficiently exceed total costs and expenses incurred
  • Working out what needs to be done to solve a client’s problems;
  • Handling telephone calls;
  • Maintaining diaries;
  • Using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, etc.


  • Excellent administrative and time-management skills essential, and experience in residential conveyancing
  • Attention to detail, research and organisational skills
  • Committed, enthusiastic and work effectively under pressure
  • Proficient at communicating with people at all levels
  • Ability to work as part of a team and exercise own initiative

Salary:  Commensurate with experience
