Join our well-established, high performing and busy Transaction Services Team (TST) as a Paralegal to help us deliver a world class service to our clients. Our team focuses on tasks that are found in a wide variety of legal assignments but which do not necessarily need to be done by qualified lawyers, such as document review, due diligence and e-disclosure, as well as process elements of transactional, advisory, commercial real estate and litigation work.

We are supported by the use of technology and play a key role in enabling Addleshaw Goddard to respond to client demand for more innovative and better value services. Launched in 2010, we are now one of our biggest divisions with over 110 employees, made up of legal apprentices, paralegals and solicitors. We were the first team of it’s kind in the UK, and continue to innovate by delivering work in the most efficient way, saving our clients time and money. Over the last 12 months we’ve worked on 3 of the largest cases in the UK court system, acted on headline grabbing mergers and sent 5 of the team out to work at our clients’ international offices. We have a strong team culture, with opportunities to join our TST social committee, charity initiatives and sports teams.

As a property Paralegal you will work as part of the Transaction Services Team to provide support to fee earners in our Real Estate division. The work of a property Paralegal is varied and includes:

All areas of post completion work expected in a busy Real Estate department of a Commercial law firm, including the submission of SDLT returns for the more complex transactions involving renewal leases, linked transactions, properties sold subject to multiple leases and exempt transaction, and the submission of all Land Registry applications to include registration of transfers, charges, unilateral notices, deeds of variation, first registrations etc.

Drafting and negotiation of licences to assign, licences to underlet and licences for alteration through to completion; also title work including lease reporting.

What we are looking for

Due to the dynamic nature of the work we do and the clients we seek to serve, the role is not an ordinary 9-5 job. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, who takes real pride in their work and who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment. You will have:

  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with colleagues at all  levels
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and proactive approach to their work
  • Effective personal organisational and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple demands
  • The ability to work to tight timescales with a sense of urgency
  • Common sense, commerciality and the ability to exercise sound judgement
  • A strong desire to develop and succeed
  • An NVQ Apprenticeship Level 3 or a Degree level qualification is desirable
  • Previous paralegal or administration experience is of relevance, but not essential.

There are many examples of AG trainees who began their career in TST, while we also offer CILEx sponsorship for strong performers who wish to work towards becoming a chartered legal executive.

  • Location of roles and client secondments

The way we flexibly structure our team creates opportunities for paralegals to work in each of our UK offices, either in our central teams or embedded within our divisions. Individuals can also transfer between roles and offices. This means you may have the opportunity to work with different people and practice areas across the firm.
We also encourage those who want to work on client sites. Given the size of the team, clients regularly request placements of durations ranging from a few weeks to over a year. Our people have worked throughout the UK and in Europe, including London, Copenhagen, Guernsey, Edinburgh, Stevenage, Northampton, Leeds, Carlisle and Manchester.
